Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE) is a coalition of companies who are committed to promote women’s economic empowerment and gender equality. Our mission is to support business to optimize its role in enhancing women’s economic empowerment and gender equality.
IBCWE’s members believe that business, along with government and civil society, has a key role to play in reducing inequalities, tackling poverty and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. For this reason, they came together in December 2016 to establish IBCWE, bringing together high profile Indonesian companies to promote women’s economic empowerment and gender equality.
Our members believe that advancing gender equality in the workplace and supporting women’s economic empowerment should be a central part of business strategy. The evidence is clear: companies with greater gender equality enjoy higher levels of growth and performance. Empowering and investing in women is good for business, and good for the economy. Hence our members are committed to:
With the initial support from the Australian Government, we provide platform and tools for companies to share inspirations and gender good practices; and facilitate our members to excel and position themselves as gender champions among corporations. Our members will work towards EDGE Certification – the global standard for gender equality – to showcase their leadership and commitment.
Working with women and men, we strive to create an enabling environment where it is the norm for women to take a more active part in the economy and to assume leadership positions. We also work with government to support relevant policy reforms that could strengthen gender equality.
